PROPOSED FARM 519 DAM BAY IRRIGATION SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT, EASTERN CAPE
Blaauwater Trust are proposing to undertake a project which seeks to return historically irrigated crop lands to their former function in to increase production on the Farm 519 property.
The project includes the establishment of an irrigated cultivated area of approximately 19.9 hectares on historically cultivated lands on the Farm 519. The affected area will be terraced and sloped to establish a series of dam bay irrigation areas for the growth of feed for livestock on the farm. The design layout of this irrigated area has been informed by the recommendations of the Aquatic specialist and includes a 20m buffer area in relation to the Sundays River which flows downslope of these historical lands.
