Proposed Loerie Country Estate Mixed Use Development, East London – Draft Basic Assessment Report

Loerie Country Estate Trust are proposing to construct the Loerie Country Estate Mixed Use Development alongside Quenera Drive in Beacon Bay. The proposals comprise of residential, commercial, business and private open space areas. The proposals also include the construction of internal roads within the development, the provision of services such as water, electricity and sanitation as well as stormwater management incorporated in the design plans of the development. Terreco Environmental cc has been appointed by Loerie Country Estate Trust to undertake the legally required application process for Environmental Authorisation (EA) including the environmental impact assessment and report which must be provided in support of the application.

The public review period is set at 30 days (as per the EIA Regulations, 2014, as amended) and will run between 5 – 14 December 2019 and 6 – 25 January 2020 for this draft BAR. All comments to be addressed to Mitchell Jarrett at jarrettm@terreco.co.za

Proposed Hewu Bulk Water Supply Scheme, Chris Hani District, Eastern Cape – Final Basic Assessment Report

Chris Hani District Municipality (CHDM) are proposing to improve and increase water supply in the Sada region near Whittlesea, Eastern Cape. The new pipeline routes will be placed within existing pipeline routes/servitudes or within road reserves. Where possible the new pipelines are proposed to be attached to existing pipe bridges across watercourses, namely; the Oxkraal River and tributaries.

Proposed Bulk Water Infrastructure For The Augmentation Of Bulk Water Supply To The Ibika Reservoirs, Butterworth – Draft Environmental Basic Assessment Report

The Amathole District Municipality (ADM) proposes to implement emergency water supply projects that will augment the bulk water supply to Butterworth and the surrounding villages.The proposed project includes the construction of bulk water supply pipelines, internal reticulation and reservoirs as part of the larger scheme. This project in particular focuses on the supply of water from two borehole fields to the existing Ibika Reservoirs on the outskirts of the town of Butterworth. Project activities will include the construction of one steel water reservoir, water pipelines and the equipping of several boreholes.

Terreco Environmental cc has been appointed by SMEC South Africa, on behalf of the ADM, to undertake the legally required application process for Environmental Authorisation including the environmental impact assessment and report which must be provided in support of the application.

The public review and commenting period for the DRAFT Environmental Basic Assessment Report runs from 13 November 2019 to 12 December 2019.

Proposed Thornhill Ministerial Housing Project: Phase 1 Link Upgrades, Port Alfred, Eastern Cape

The project includes the construction of link infrastructure that will include a clean water pump station with a capacity of 325 liters per second and a water pumping main of varying diameter from the existing 16ML reservoir and connect to existing pipe work. Terreco Environmental cc has been appointed by Bigen Africa Services (Pty) Ltd on behalf of ABSA Property Development (ABSA DevCo), to undertake the legally required application process for Environmental Authorisation (EA) including the environmental impact assessment (EIA) and report which must be provided in support of the application. The applicant for the proposal is the Ndlambe Local Municipality.
As per the EIA Regulations 2014 (as amended), the public review period for this document is set at 30 days and will run from 14 November – 13 December 2019.

Purple Moss 29 (Pty) Ltd are proposing to construct the Riverleigh Development on Farm 817/53 off of Quenera Drive in Beacon Bay. The proposals comprise of residential, commercial, business and private open space areas. The proposals also include the construction of internal roads within the development, the provision of services such as water, electricity and sanitation as well as stormwater management incorporated in the design plans of the development. Terreco Environmental cc has been appointed by Purple Moss 29 (Pty) Ltd to undertake the legally required application process for Environmental Authorisation (EA) including the environmental impact assessment and report which must be provided in support of the application. The public review and commenting period for the draft BAR took place from 9 October to 8 November 2019.

Proposed Mdantsane Pedestrian Bridges, BCMM: Final Basic Assessment Report

The Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM) have developed proposals to construct two high level pedestrian bridges in Mdantsane in East London. These bridges are the NU 11B – NU 12 link bridge on Erf 2466 (Ward 48) and the Sithembiso Secondary School link bridge on Erf 9678 located in NU 3 (Ward 14). The purpose of the Project is to construct pedestrian bridges at these two sites which will allow safe passage across these watercourses for pedestrians. Terreco Environmental cc has been appointed by the project engineers (Engineering Advice and Services (Pty) Ltd)), on behalf of BCMM, to undertake the legally required application process for Environmental Authorisation (EA) including the environmental impact assessment and report which must be provided in support of the application.

Proposed Improvement of the National Road R63 Section 15 and 16 from Bhisho (Km 5.8) to the N6 Bridge Intersection (Km 1.0). – Final Basic Assessment Report

South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) have developed proposals for the upgrading of the Sections 15 and 16 R63 National Road between from Bhisho (km 5,8) and the R63/N6 bridge intersection (km 1,0). Terreco Environmental cc has been appointed by the project engineers, Mariswe (Pty) Ltd to undertake the legally required application process for Environmental Authorisation (EA) including the environmental impact assessment and report which must be provided in support of the application.

Proposed Development of BP 10 for the supply of material for the Mgwali South Water Supply Project – Draft Basic Assessment Report

Amathole District Municipality (ADM) are currently undertaking the construction of the Mgwali South Water Supply project in the vicinity of Dutywa in the Eastern Cape which requires the development of a borrow pit (BP10). Terreco Environmental cc has been appointed by the project engineers, Bosch Projects, to undertake the legally required application process for Environmental Authorisation (EA) including the environmental impact assessment and report which must be provided in support of the application. The public review period is set at 30 days (as per the EIA Regulations, 2014, as amended) and will run from 15 August to 16 September 2019 for this draft BAR.
